Carex’s Security and Access Solutions partner is looking for an Indirect Global Sourcing Leader (GSL) –Transportation & Logistics for a ~9-month contract opportunity. This person is responsible for leveraging spend across the business in the transportation and logistics category, creating and executing strategic cost savings, and capturing carrier volume allocations, product movement, and data accuracy. The role will focus on implementing strategic sourcing analysis, RFx, contracts, and will work with the Business group to support global business objectives. Must be on-site 3 days per week in Lake Forest, CA
There are additional duties specific to RFx, contracts and supporting Agreements for the HR and Finance categories
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- (70%) Perform and project manage sourcing events from inception to implementation. Includes:
- Project charter / discovery. Create team (stakeholders), review spend data and follow and help define sourcing strategy.
- Work to support the identification of potential suppliers; prepare and conduct RFX’s at Client Category request.
- Perform competitive bidding process.
- Negotiate for best overall total cost of indirect materials, service, and delivery along with formulating contract negotiations in the form of terms and conditions or master purchase agreements.
- Adhere to all regulations by geography and mode of transportation specific to this industry.
- Adhere to all regulations and law for each additional Category supported.
- Present supplier recommendation for approval and contract award.
Review contract for T&C compliance, SOW (Purpose, description, pricing, delivery, supplier, and payment terms). - Follow sourcing process
- Contract implementation.
- (10%) Manage strategic supplier relationships with vendors
- Evaluate, measure, and report Supplier performance metrics and scorecards.
- Manage supplier onboarding, supplier transactions including, payables and partnership development.
- (10%) Engage functional business leaders to ensure business requirements and functional metrics are met on price, delivery OTIF – on time, payment terms, insurance and liabilities, invoicing, data entry and accuracy in the transportation management tools related to freight payables and data maintenance.
- (10%) Identify opportunities for cost improvement through cost benchmarking, innovation, and process improvement.
Education and Experience Profile- A bachelor’s degree in a business or technical field; MBA is desirable.
- 5 years relevant experience in Supply Chain Management or Procurement.
- 2-3 years of relevant experience in transportation and carrier management with experience in Logistics. 3PL, Transportation, and Trade Compliance and commodity management experience in ocean transportation and contracts preferred.
- 2-3 years indirect sourcing/procurement experience, preferably in a multi-site operating environment; global experience a plus.
- Experience in structuring contracts, collaborating with legal reviews, and managing internal and external business relationships.
- Contract negotiation and management expertise to review and negotiate for Terms and Conditions (T&C) compliance and Statement of Work (SOW) clarity.
- A Certificate Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or other related professional certification, completed or in progress is a plus.
- Experience in Finance, Legal/or management is plus.
