Carex is partnering with a Wisconsin based Insurance industry partner to find a strategic and visionary Head of Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) to fill their AVP – IT CISO role and lead the delivery of enterprise-wide IT infrastructure, operations, and information security. This executive-level role is accountable for both current operations and the future transformation of the I&O function, aligning it with overall business objectives. The Head of I&O will serve as a key stakeholder in relationships with external service providers and will play a critical role in shaping and executing enterprise IT strategy to maximize value and ensure long-term success.
What You’ll Do
- Drive the development and execution of the enterprise-wide IT and I&O strategy.
- Lead, inspire, and mentor I&O teams through collaborative leadership and clear decision-making.
- Oversee the development and enforcement of IT standards, policies, and procedures.
- Transform I&O into a service-oriented, value-driven function through best-in-class practices.
- Manage business risk by delivering robust and secure IT solutions.
- Guide IT acquisitions, deployments, and integration strategies to support business growth.
- Serve as a senior advisor and IT advocate across leadership and governance forums.
- Provide direction to directors and managers within the I&O organization.
- Participate in the budgeting process and provide strategic input on resource allocation.
- Focus on long-term strategic planning while delegating day-to-day operational activities.
- Oversee staff development, goal setting, and performance management to ensure high team engagement and capability.
- Partner across IT and business units to ensure alignment and execution of initiatives.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field—or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years of experience in people management, strategy development, and IT operations leadership.
- Professional certification in security management such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and lead transformational change across complex environments.
- Experience leading enterprise-scale agile initiatives and IT modernization efforts.
- Insurance industry experience is preferred.
- Strong leadership with a compelling vision for I&O that aligns with broader business goals.
- Excellent strategic planning, execution, and communication skills.
- Deep understanding of cloud adoption, DevOps, ITIL practices, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management and cost models.
- Expertise in third-party/vendor relationship management.
- Ability to develop high-performing teams through mentoring and strategic staffing.
