Carex is partnering with a pharmaceutical industry partner to find a Benefits Manager, People Services & Culture, to join their growing team in Pasadena, CA. In this role, you will work closely with employees at the corporate location in Pasadena, as well as at other locations in San Diego, CA, and Madison and Verona, WI. You will play a leading role in coordinating benefits, including onboarding and ongoing benefits management. Additionally, you will collaborate with other team members on processing status change forms, recruiting, performance management, and learning & development activities.

What You'll Do

  • Manage benefit enrollments and processing, including COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability (leave of absence), accident and death claims (worker’s compensation), and compliance testing.
  • Act as a key player in managing the company’s 401K plans.
  • Design, recommend, and implement new benefits programs, examining possible plan designs and benefits cost changes.
  • Serve as the primary contact for plan vendors, third-party administrators, and employees with benefits questions and issues.
  • Coordinate the transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums, and plan administration.
  • Evaluate and revise internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
  • Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations, including timely and accurate reporting and fees.
  • Oversee the maintenance of employee benefits files, maintain the group benefits database, and update employee payroll records.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resource management or a related field, with three to five years of related benefits or employee benefits administration experience; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft products, including PowerPoint, with experience in ADP and benefits databases.
  • Demonstrated project and team management/leadership skills and experience.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong planning and priority-setting skills with the ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously under pressure.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of plan designs.
  • Ability to understand, evaluate, and make judgments on proposals (RFPs).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of benefits contract language.
  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers’ compensation, Medicare, OBRA, Social Security, and DOL requirements.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP and CEBS professional designations.
