Carex is partnering with a defense & manufacturing industry partner to find an experienced Electronics Quality Technician to support inspections of electrical harnesses and other electronic components. This role is essential in ensuring quality compliance throughout the product development lifecycle, from prototype to low-volume production, within an ISO 9001-certified engineering and manufacturing environment. The position is 100% onsite in New Hudson, MI, with potential occasional travel to suppliers.
This is a long-term contract opportunity with potential for conversion to a permanent role.
What You'll Do
- Perform incoming, in-process, and end-of-line inspections of electronic components and harnesses.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and other controlled documentation.
- Identify, document, and resolve test anomalies, pursuing corrective action as needed.
- Independently verify quality standards and document results clearly and precisely.
- Develop and implement quality policies and procedures in collaboration with Quality, Electronics Lab, and Engineering teams.
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to resolve nonconforming material issues.
- Examine incoming parts and documentation to ensure they meet required specifications.
- Interface with suppliers to communicate quality issues, determine root causes, and verify corrective actions.
- Utilize Windows-based computer programs, including Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Word.
- Maintain proficiency in electrical systems and manufacturing processes.
What You'll Bring
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience in a defense or aerospace manufacturing environment, specializing in electronics quality, inspection, or harness assembly.
- Strong foundational knowledge of electrical systems and manufacturing processes.
- Experience inspecting solder, crimping, conformal coating, staking, and surface-mounted devices per IPC-A-610 standards.
- Familiarity with wire harness assembly in accordance with IPC-A-620 (certification preferred).
- Proficiency in using portable measuring devices and Cirris cable testing systems (or similar) for electronic testing and inspection.
- Understanding of nonconforming hardware control, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience with VeSys software preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and a reliable team player.
