Carex is partnering with a professional services industry partner to hire a Database Administrator. This role will focus on modernizing disaster recovery, business continuity, and data architecture initiatives. Reporting to the IT Infrastructure Manager, the Database Administrator will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing existing databases while overseeing data architecture, storage, security, encryption, and backup strategies. This hands-on role requires expertise in production administration, performance tuning, and disaster recovery to support the organization's evolving data needs.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement failover architectures to ensure high availability.
- Manage Always-On availability groups and other high-availability solutions.
- Install, configure, and maintain database systems for optimal performance and reliability.
- Perform database maintenance, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Implement and manage database security measures, ensuring compliance with security policies.
- Control access to database systems and collaborate with cross-functional teams on security and encryption strategies.
- Provide guidance on data governance, tool selection, and solution architecture.
- Contribute to data architecture frameworks to support various business functions.
- Offer architectural input to the Change Advisory Board (CAB) and risk assessment processes.
What You'll Bring
- 10+ years of experience in database administration, preferably in a SQL Server environment with production management.
- Expertise in database operations, including disaster recovery, business continuity, data governance, authentication, storage, and server virtualization.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and communicate opportunities.
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders, anticipate business needs, and implement effective solutions.
- Hands-on experience with Windows Failover Architecture and Always-On technologies.
- A continuous improvement mindset and a team-first approach to knowledge sharing and development.
- Experience with Azure data warehouse solutions is a plus.
