Carex is partnering with a biotech industry partner to hire a Research Associate II. This role focuses on supporting research and development projects that translate ideas and concepts into diagnostic assay products. The Research Associate II will execute bench experiments, analyze data, and document results while working with whole blood specimens to establish shelf-life and specimen stability claims.

This role will be onsite in La Jolla, CA and is anticipated to be an 8 month contract. Anticipated compensation rate is $22-45/hr, dependent on experience. What You'll Do:

  • Conduct bench-level experiments within a specified product or technology area.
  • Process whole blood specimens in blood tubes under test conditions.
  • Plan, record, and analyze experimental results with guidance.
  • Operate and maintain scientific instrumentation, addressing technical issues when necessary.
  • Utilize and apply established scientific methods and technologies effectively.
  • Maintain a clear and consistent lab notebook in compliance with legal, ISO, and QSR requirements.
  • Prepare reports summarizing experimental results for supervisors and project teams.
  • Present experimental findings at departmental or project meetings.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet project objectives within established timeframes.
  • Work in a BSL-2 environment, adhering to biosafety guidelines.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemical/Physical/Biological Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Basic knowledge of molecular biology and/or biochemical techniques.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks with changing priorities.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
