Carex is partnering with a leading manufacturing industry partner to find a talented and driven Test Engineer (Software) to validate IoT embedded electronics solutions and support new product development. This role spans motors, controls, hardware, and software in the integration of shading solutions for home and building environments. The position is pivotal in ensuring product quality, functionality, and innovation through rigorous design verification and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and maintain test programs, equipment, and reusable test architectures, ensuring seamless handoff to manufacturing when needed.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, and quality teams to design and execute validation plans.
  • Support app, software, and electronic product development for multiple branded and private label product lines.
  • Test designs to meet relevant codes and standards, including cybersecurity and IoT requirements, with the potential to manage external lab relationships.
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure testing needs are incorporated at early design stages.
  • Engage in strategic application development, connected device integration, and continuous support for operating system evolution.
  • Investigate customer field complaints, develop engineering solutions, and ensure design compliance with all applicable standards.
  • Participate in capital equipment planning, continuous improvement initiatives, and implementation of cost-reduction measures.
  • Maintain detailed engineering records for test processes and results, and collaborate on project teams using the 4D stage-gate process.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in programming design for consumer products or electronics testing and quality assurance.
  • Expertise in new product development and testing processes, with familiarity in app development for iOS and Android.
  • Strong conceptual and detailed design skills and the ability to troubleshoot hardware, firmware, and software issues.
  • Knowledge of wireless solutions like WiFi, Bluetooth, and home automation protocols (e.g., Zigbee, Z-Wave, Matter) is a plus.
  • Front-end GUI design experience using technologies like HTML, CSS, React, JavaScript, and others.
  • Back-end programming experience with Delphi, C++, MySQL, Go, Visual Studio, and Eclipse is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with serial networks (RS-232, RS-485, Ethernet) and communication networks is an advantage.
